PITTSBURGH–Pennsylvania Treasurer Rob McCord recognized Alcoa’s commitment to
gender diversity today with a Proclamation of Honor as one of five
publicly traded companies in Pittsburgh’s “Top 50” with at least three
women currently serving on its board of directors.
The honor is based on research by Catalyst and Vicki Kramer and
Associates that shows company boards need at least three women members
for gender diversity to have genuine impact.
Julie Caponi, Vice President of Audit at Alcoa, accepted the honor on
behalf of the company.
“Alcoa values diversity at all levels of the corporation and we are
proud to have such outstanding leaders and important female role models
on our board of directors,” Caponi said. “We commend the State of
Pennsylvania for recognizing the economic benefit that diversity brings.
As we continue our journey to improve diversity throughout Alcoa, we
hope that this honor will encourage other companies to place greater
value on diversity.”
