August 31, 2011

NEW YORK–Alcoa (NYSE:AA) announced that its operations in Brazil was named one of
the “100 Best Companies to Work For – Brazil” a recognition it has
received for 10 consecutive years, according to a survey conducted by
the Great Place to Work® Institute, published by Época magazine, from
Editora Globo.

Alcoa Brazil also figured prominently on the “Time on List” ranking for
continuously making the list for 10 years, and it took 5th place in the
“Companies that Promote People Most” category.

The study assessed the confidence level from more than 700 Alcoa Brazil
employees who responded to a questionnaire evaluating credibility,
respect, impartiality, pride and comradeship; and people cultural
practices in nine areas of the company: hiring and receiving;
inspiration; talking; listening; appreciation; development; looking
after; celebrating and sharing. The methodology was based on two
assessments: one involved employees, who completed an electronic
questionnaire, which was further verified through a group interview
involving 15 Alcoans; and the second was focused on company people
management practices.

“We’re proud of this result, because it reflects the satisfaction felt
by hundreds of Alcoans with our work environment. We hope this
recognition attracts even more talented people to the company,” says
Franklin L. Feder, president of Alcoa Latin America and the Caribbean.

This is the 15th edition of the award, with Alcoa having participated in
13 of them and being nominated as the Best Company to Work For in Brazil

The survey results will be published in an upcoming issue of Época
magazine and in the 2011 “100 Best Companies to Work For” Guide.
